Snugpak Bunker Tent Pitched on grass.jpg

Smaller tents are popular for hiking and make brilliant shelter for festival goers. The only problem with smaller tents is that they can be very tricky and time consuming to pitch and can often sport lacklustre build quality. This is where the Snugpak Bunker tent comes into its own. It's a traditional tent, with a hearty quality and an all seasons design. Buy on Amazon

Interior Space & Storage

The Snugpak Bunker tent is designed to sleep up to three people, but from our experience two fully grown adults with some surrounding gear are fairly crowded. You can't stand up in the Bunker and moving around is mostly a crawling and bending affair. This makes it more of a tent to sleep in and use as a simple shelter against bad weather during the day. The inner tent does keep the compact area organised, with six wall pockets for storing things like glasses, books, mobile phones and other travel items and accessories. Two opposing zipped door entrances feature and are both nice and wide, and another inner tent door is revealed behind each door, which feature a polyester mesh (two additional vents are located around the tent) for greater ventilation as this tent is designed to be used during all seasons.

Versatility & Pack Size

Sleeping in the Bunker proved to be very tranquil, despite the heavy weather we faced whilst testing. The Bunker's shape shreds howling winds and shrugs off dense rainfall. And although used in reasonably harsh weather we didn't even have our guy ropes set up, we just used a few pegs and the structure remained rigid and stationary, further demonstrating its purposeful design. The Snugpak Bunker weighs roughly 3KGs and the carry bag supplied keeps it compact and ideal for carrying with a backpack. It's not a mammoth strain to lug with you and is shares these credentials for carrying when hiking and travelling.

Pitching & Materials

Snugpak have included straightforward instructions and we managed to assemble the tent correctly on the first pitch. It has an olive green lightweight 210t polyester RipStop 5000mm (high water resistance) waterproof polyurethane coated fly sheet with a 190t nylon PU 5000mm groundsheet and this also encompasses the 190t nylon with polyester mesh black inner tent. It took around seven minutes to pitch the tent, which did include pegging and guy ropes. The NSL® anodized aluminium poles with pressfit connectors are very strong and surprisingly light too. The alloy stake pegs are also tough and lightweight. We have nothing but praise for the quality of materials Snugpak have used, this is a tent that will last.
